We depend extensively
on the commitment of our volunteers
who provide services
and support in every aspect of the charity’s
work. Many of our services are provided
exclusively by volunteers such as our
befriending, escorting, handyperson and
gardening schemes.
Our reception and
information services are run exclusively by
volunteers, and they also support our
general office in clerical duties and with
the retail and trading side of the
charity to raise funds for our work.
Our volunteers support
us in running our clubs,
support our outreach staff and facilitate
activities, assist us with recruiting staff
and help us raise vital funds through many
of our fundraising activities during the
year.
Volunteers - Anna, Liz and Fifi
The following positions are highly
valued services that we rely upon suitably experienced and
qualified volunteers to help us
provide.
Befriending
- Volunteers regularly visit older people in
their homes. Activities such as 'tea and a
chat' and going out for a walk are most
common, but the volunteer could be asked on
odd occasions to escort to the shops or go
to the theatre with a client. Reliability
and an ability to listen and chat are key to
this role.
Escorting
- Accompanying an older person to an
appointment with either the doctor, hospital
or dentist. his requires the volunteer to
stay with the older person and ensure that
they get home at the end of the appointment.
Reliability is of utmost importance with
this role.
Gardening & Odd
Jobs - Assisting with small tasks
around the house and garden. Reliability and
experience is key to this role.
Please note that these positions are subject
to CRB checks.
